I took up the guitar in High School and am thankful for the lessons from the late Matt Ponsonby, the late Mark Frilingos and Steve McLeod.
My earliest memories of writring were in school. We used to holiday on the coast and my first song was written at this time -
I'm lying in bed and I'm having a dream And it's all about me and I'm sailing out to sea I've been sailing with the navy and I've been a long, long way I've been sailing for 10 hours and a couple of years and days
The only problem is that at this point it morphs into the Bee Gees "I've Gotta Get A Message To You" and I can't claim a writing credit on that one. It was a good 10 years before I wrote another song.
In 2008 I have been to the Nashville Songwriters Association International "Song Camp", APRA Song Summit, the Australian Songwriters Conference and sessions with Pat Pattison and Steve Seskin.
